Since the second half of last year, there have been frequent shortages in the market. Now that a year has passed, whether the shortage of chips has eased, people from all walks of life have different opinions. Therefore, we have counted the latest market trends of ST, Renesas, NXP, ADI, ON Semiconductor, Xilinx, Microchip, Qualcomm, Toshiba, DIODES, Infineon and other original manufacturers.

ST: There is a large gap in high-end products and automotive-grade chips

Since the price of ST products has fallen, most spot traders have been selling goods, but this month has seen a slight rebound. For example, the prices of STM8S003F3P6TR and STM32F103VCT6 have risen slightly. It is worth noting that the market price of ST's brake system chips has been soaring recently, and other automotive chips have also risen. Moreover, there are still large gaps in high-end products and automotive-grade chips, and the delivery time is still very long.

In addition, ST's original factory is expected to readjust its production capacity after December 25, and orders from small customers are expected to be included in the production plan, and production capacity will also improve. The original self-owned fab has also invested in the production of the STM8S003, 005, and STM32GXXX series, but the TSMC wafer series such as the STM32LXXX series and the automotive grade will still be in short supply in the first half of next year.

Renesas: 10% increase across the board in January next year

Renesas recently announced that the price of all products will increase by 10% from January 1, 2022. The products that have been increased this time include Dialog products newly acquired by Renesas. The price increase is mainly due to capacity constraints in front-end (wafer), back-end, test and packaging, and raw materials, which have resulted in significant cost increases for suppliers. It is worth noting that some old models of major home appliances will be discontinued, and production capacity will be transferred to automotive-grade ICs.

NXP: Announcement to warn the first wave of shortages

Recently, the original NXP factory issued a warning notice to customers, reminding customers to hurry up to stock up in Q4 to meet the wave of shortages in Q1 in 2022. For now, there has been a large gap in the supply of the MK series, and most customers' order schedules have been extended to 2023. Partial lead times for MPU, MCU and clock chips are up to 78 weeks. The KEAN series has been seriously out of stock since the Q3 quarter. The average delivery time given by NXP is about 52 weeks, and some materials have not even been delivered yet.

In addition, NXP's automotive-grade chips have eased some time ago, so many customers are in a wait-and-see state. But at present, the actual arrival quantity of the original factory is not as much as expected. For some automotive chips in short supply, the original factory has implemented a distribution system, and the warehouse inventory of all agents also needs to be approved and dispatched by the original factory.

ADI: From December 1st, the full range of products will increase by 6%

Recently, ADI's market has continued to be hot, and product prices are also rising. The demand is mainly concentrated in server and automotive products. The prices of general-purpose models are relatively stable due to a small amount of arrivals from the original factory last month. In addition, ADI announced that from December 1st, the price of the whole series will be increased by 6%. According to people familiar with the matter, by 2022, ADI may announce a new round of price increases, and the increase is expected to be more than 10%. It is expected that the market will be in a state of skyrocketing prices. At present, the demand for ADI has increased significantly, and the delivery time of some materials has reached more than 90 weeks, and the follow-up price is also bullish.

In addition, ADI's brand Maxim will also announce a price increase at the request of the headquarters. It is expected to issue a price increase letter in February and March next year. The specific increase is unknown. At this stage, the delivery time for general material products of Maxim is about 26 weeks, and the delivery time for products with special material numbers is about 26 weeks. Basically more than 40 weeks.

ON Semiconductor: Delivery up to 80 weeks

ON Semiconductor has seen a significant increase in market demand since Q4, mainly in logic ICs, Mosfet and image sensors. Among them, the demand for logic ICs of the 74 series has increased significantly. Limited by production capacity, ON Semiconductor's current product delivery time is 30-50 weeks, and some products are even delivered in as long as 80 weeks.

Due to the recent surge in demand for medium and high voltage MOS tubes, the market price has been rising all the way. In addition, many factories are currently sloping production capacity to automotive-grade products. As a result, low-voltage MOS tubes are almost out of stock at present, and some of the delivery dates have exceeded 50 week. In addition, there has been news recently that ON Semiconductor will adjust the order window again, and orders for some materials will not be cancelled. It can be seen that the shortage of ON Semiconductor will continue for a long time.

It is worth noting that due to the continuous explosion of demand for intelligent driving of new energy vehicles, ON Semiconductor's image sensors are also out of stock in a large area, and the price is rising again and again. The NTD, NCP, and NCV series are all out of stock, and the out-of-stock situation is expected to continue until the Q2 quarter of next year.

Xilinx: 6/7 series is seriously out of stock

At present, the material shortage of XILINX 6/7 series is very serious, and this series has been handed over to Samsung for OEM production. However, due to the recent conflict between Samsung and Xilinx in the cooperation negotiation, Xilinx has been unable to obtain production line capacity for this series. It is expected that the shortage of this series will continue for a period of time.

The demand for Xilinx's FPGA and CPLD products has exploded, and the overseas market is even more popular. The quotations have generally increased from tens of dollars to hundreds of thousands or even tens of thousands of dollars.

Microchip: Product lead times extended

It is reported that Microchip (US Microchip) recently negotiated with TSMC on the wafer production capacity reservation plan, and the two sides did not negotiate smoothly. The tight production capacity will lead to prolonged product delivery, and most of Microchip's products may be out of stock for a long time. The good news is that the prices of Microchip's SMSC series have dropped, such as USB2514BI, 2514B, KSZ9031, KSZ8081, USB2517, LAN8710, and LAN8720. These materials, which were especially out of stock in the past few months, are slowly being relieved. Prices are still at a mid-to-high level.

Toshiba: Prices will increase again in January next year

TOSHIBA (Toshiba) recently announced that due to the rising prices of raw materials, logistics and other supply chains, the company is under increasing pressure on profitability, and Toshiba Electronics itself has been unable to digest the cost, so it has decided to start from January 1, 2022. The official price increase, the specific price increase has not yet been announced.

Qualcomm: Increase Bluetooth products on December 31

In terms of Qualcomm, Netcom chips are still seriously out of stock. AR8031, AR8033, and AR8035 series are in short supply. It is expected that the original factory will produce less next year, and some models will be discontinued. This month's popular out-of-stock model AR8031, the spot price has been speculated to more than 1,200 yuan, and the original factory has no output for the time being, and the shortage cannot be alleviated in the short term.

In addition, Qualcomm recently announced that it will conduct a second price increase for its Bluetooth products from December 31. Among them, the QCC51XX series will increase by 17%, the QCC30XX series will increase by 6%, the CSR8670/CSR8675 price will increase by 21%, the CSR8811 series will increase by 15%, and the CSR8615/CSR8635 price will increase by 13%.

DIODES: Delivery extended to 40-50 weeks

In terms of DIODES, the product delivery time of the original DIODES factory is extended to 40-50 weeks. DIODES said that in addition to the shortage of wafers, the production capacity of the original factory is also very tight, because most of the production capacity of the original factory is allocated to automotive and power management products, which also indirectly leads to the lower unit price of discrete devices. products are not available normally.

Infineon: Orders need to be placed at least one year in advance

For Infineon, the market is still seriously out of stock. Infineon's product delivery time has not been relieved until now, mainly focusing on Mosfet and switch chips. Some agents have reported that end customers need to place orders at least one year in advance. .

At present, Infineon MOS products are basically in the state of distribution. The delivery time of low-voltage MOS is 42-52 weeks, the delivery time of high-voltage MOS is 36-52 weeks, and the delivery time of IGBT materials is 39-50 weeks. Chip delivery falls in 45-52 weeks. It is gratifying that although the original factory delivery time is long at this stage, the scarce materials are also being delivered one after another. However, the original factory also mentioned recently that automotive chips such as IGBTs will be more in short supply next year.

On the whole, the strong demand for semiconductors has not changed, and the long-standing global core shortage has not been fundamentally alleviated in Q4 this year. Judging from the supply of MCUs and automotive chips, as major auto factories gradually resume production in the second half of this year, these two chips, which will bear the brunt of the shortage of cores at the end of 2020, have a trend of further shortages of cores.
